bridal invites

I wanted to share these bridal shower invites I designed for a friend of mine who was throwing the party for her sister.  I was requested to use yellow and hydrangeas (I just happen to love both!) I really enjoyed working on them! I took the opportunity to make custom envelope liners…my first time. I totally loved how they turned out!

Girly, but not frou frou

I LOVE to do girly things (did you know that about me?) – but I don’t think I am frou frou about it.  I have a few pinkish things brewing for the spring that I’ll post about when the time comes…but in the meantime I wanted to share a birth announcement I designed.  I, of course, enjoyed the sweetness of it all.  The photo was just too precious, isn’t she a dear?

Pink Baby Shower

My dear friend Sonia is having a girl!  To celebrate her sister threw her a pink themed baby shower complete with pink cupcakes and pink tissue paper flowers made by Sonia!  One of my favorite games was a contest to make the best looking Play-Doh baby…I didn’t do too well on that one!

I was happy to help out with some of the paper projects.  I used an Indian block print pattern in pink to make a “Onsie Laundry Advice Line” as well as a coordinating banner and favor tags. I wish Sonia all the best with her pregnancy and I can’t wait to meet her little ‘Cutie Pie’!

Happy Valentines Day

I LOVE Valentines Day – but with two boys I have to keep the ‘frou frou-ness’ to a minimum! My older has been fascinated with cootie catchers and is completely amazed that I used to make them when I went to school (you know WAAAAY BACK in the dark ages).

So with some help with graphics from ‘Lettering Delights‘ I made these awesome monster themed ones for him to give to his friends at school.  Once I got in to the rhythm of things the folding went pretty quickly.  They were a hit with the girls and boys!

Also, seeing that my charcoal grey felt worked so well on our holiday cards I decided to give it a go again with our Valentines Day Cards….nice, don’t you think! (I have a feeling this felt will be showing up a lot until I can get it out of my system)

Merry Holidays!

Every year I do a photo holiday card of either us and the boys or just the boys.  I always think it is more interesting to photograph the boys because you never can guess what you will end up with and since I am not in the photos with them I get the joy and aggravation of taking the pictures! This holiday season was no different, I had an idea of what I wanted to do and a half baked plan on how to execute it!  I knew it would be absolutely impossible to get the 2 monkeys with a decent photo in the same frame – so I devised a plan to shoot them separately and then through the magic of photoshop make it appear that they were in the same frame!  I took over 150 photos and really only about 3 were usable for my purposes….(love that memory is so cheap!)  You can’t even tell that I am begging, pleading, threatening them through the whole ordeal.  I love how the finished product came out:

and here are some outtakes from the shoot:

Some behind the scenes details:

For the back drop  I had a bolt of charcoal grey felt that I propped up on stacked chairs. I have a wall of windows directly in front of it for the natural light.  (I know I have a real professional operation going on here!):

I took a few photos of just a draped sheet for the middle message portion of the card:

Then the rest all came together in Photoshop….

It was alot of fun to work on this year’s holiday card…I am already making plans for next year’s production!!! Stay tuned!
