I came across these globes by Wendy Gold of ImagineNations. They are so fun and fantastic! I would love to get a whole cluster of them and display them in a room…I would call it my Wanderlust Room. Only I don’t have any extra rooms – oh well, its nice to dream!

iced tea in pictures

I have written about tea (chai) for the Winter here, and a tea celebration for Spring here. It is only fitting that I have an ode to tea for Summer. I had just finished making a couple of batches of Earl Grey Iced Tea and Cardamom Iced Tea when I thought the amber color would make for a great photo session. I got the set up well and good but it took some tinkering from my husband to really get the sexy shots I was after. After a few strategic filters and camera settings, he got me images that ended up to the equivalency to iced tea porn! Enjoy the pictures and try not to blush

bridal invites

I wanted to share these bridal shower invites I designed for a friend of mine who was throwing the party for her sister. I was requested to use yellow and hydrangeas (I just happen to love both!) I really enjoyed working on them! I took the opportunity to make custom envelope liners…my first time. I totally loved how they turned out!

Going to my happy place…I spent Spring Break with my family in USVI. I have found the place that makes my mind quiet and soul happy.

Spring Celebration!

Yay! I finally was able to have my Spring Tea Party…(after the forced postponement!) I had a wonderful time with some of my close friends and truth be told I didn’t just serve tea…we enjoyed a few glasses of bubbly (it is a celebration after all!) I really wanted to celebtate good friends and spring, so I wanted to make sure every detail was extra special. The event had to live up to the invites!

The china is Wedgwood in the ‘India’ pattern. It is from our bridal registry and this is the first time we’ve ever used it, we had to peel off the barcode tags! If I had to choose again I think I would have pick a different pattern, something more modern. Well to be real I think I would have done fine with no china – we are just not the kind of people that entertain that way. We have pretty much every accessory that goes with the pattern, so I guess we’ll keep it and I’ll find ways to put it to good use like more fabulous Tea Parties!

This is the boys enjoying a gourmet breakfast from the leftovers…I think they could get used to this!

Germination

I love spring. I do. I love the idea of starting fresh and new. Mother Nature yawning and stretching her arms after a long cold winter. I like the smell of fresh mulch and the dampness after a quick April shower. But I get impatient. I do. I planted some bulbs with my boys and while I do understand there is all kinds of magic brewing under the soil (because that is what I tell THEM), I want to see some leaves breaking through the dirt – soon. So I find inspiration in the process - the start – the roots – the growth - the germination. That is where this post’s sketch comes from – I made this from that inspiration.

March 20 2011 is officially the first day of spring! So I wanted to celebrate it by having a few friends over for a Tea Party, how lovely would THAT have been. Well, winter wanted to give me one last blow and knocked me out with the most heinous sinus infection ever. EVER! I’ve been out of commission for…um…lets see….SIX days so far!!! How RUDE is that?! In any case my plans will not be thwarted….just postponed. So even though there will be no tea cups clinking this weekend, I would love to share the invites I handed out for the event…

I ordered the saucers from The Vintage Teacup which is like browsing through the most wonderful china shop with no worries of breaking anything! I wanted to do the writing using a pen made specifically for porcelain but I ended up using a paint pen. The drying time for the speciality pen was 24 hours…I didn’t have that kind of time! The place mats I scored at a local thrift shop, I couldn’t believe how perfect they were for the invites. I used an inkjet compatable iron on material on the placement, but if I had to do it over again I would have opted to have the mats screen printed. Overall I really liked how they turned out! I will be sure to post photos of the party when it happens…

Girly, but not frou frou

I LOVE to do girly things (did you know that about me?) – but I don’t think I am frou frou about it. I have a few pinkish things brewing for the spring that I’ll post about when the time comes…but in the meantime I wanted to share a birth announcement I designed. I, of course,enjoyed the sweetness of it all. The photo was just too precious, isn’t she a dear?

Letterpress Letters (sigh…)

I wandered into Middleburg, VA this weekend to see what I could goodies I could score for my letterpress. There was an ad for a garage sale that was clearing out their letterpress inventory, I just had to check it out. I certainly was not disappointed! I ended up buying 4 different sets of metal typefaces….oooooh my head is spinning with the possibilities! ((((grin))))
